In 1930 my grandfather left his medical practice in Connecticut and moved his family to an old farm in Naples, Maine. In 1988 I built my shop on 3 acres of land across the road from that same farmhouse where I was born. For an online tour, mouseover any thumbnail to enlarge.
My shop occupies the entire first floor of the 24' x 36' barn-like structure, and I make my home in the space above. A shed addition serves as woodshed/entry and as a shelter for my Kubota tractor. Modest in size for a timberframing shop, I've managed over the years to make it an efficient work space. An outdoor work-bench in the front is where I do most of the cutting whenever the weather is suitable, and also test-fit some of the more complex components when necessary.
I enjoy having visitors, and would encourage anyone to feel free to drop by during business hours. I'm located at 97 Kimball Corner Road in Naples, Maine. Directions: From the Naples Causeway on Route 302 take Lakehouse Road to the end (about 3 miles). Turn left at the stop sign. Look for my shingle (pictured at page top) about 1/2 mile on the right.
